Live! From The Punchline...it’s Darrell Hammond!
An accomplished actor and stand up comedian, Darrell Hammond is best known for the many impressions he brings to Saturday Night Live. He has been applauded by viewers and critics alike, for his uncanny accuracy and range. Hammond is a master impressionist, performing as everyone from politicians; including Bill Clinton, Jesse Jackson, Rudy Giuliani and Vice President Al Gore; to media figures such as Ted Koppel and Sam Donaldson; to celebrities Sean Connery, Jay Leno, and Regis Philbin. In April 1997, Hammond won high marks for his dead-on impression of Clinton during a surprise appearance with the President himself, at an event before thousands of government officials and members of the Washington Press Corps. After playing President Clinton for most of his time in office, Hammond has taken over playing practically the entire Bush Administration; from Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, to Attorney General John Ashcroft, Secretary of State Colin Powell and Homeland Security Chief Tom Ridge – often in the same sketch! On the big screen, Hammond appears alongside Charlie Sheen and Eddie Griffin in the feature film "Scary Movie 3," and he can be seen in the recently released, "New York Minute," with The Olsen Twins. Hammond’s numerous TV credits include NBC’s "Late Night with Conan O’Brien" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Hollywood Squares" and "Late Show with David Letterman" on CBS; A&E’s "Comedy on the Road," and countless appearances on MTV, Showtime, Comedy Central, and VH-1.
