You know Craig as one of the best comedians playing clubs today. Here are some things you may not know:
Craig co-hosted the Magic Hour with Magic Johnson and was taken off the couch in the middle of the show on day three, making television history!
He toured with Ray Charles and Kenny Loggins. When Kenny was about to open the show at the Neil Simon Theater on Broadway, he was informed one of his singers was sick. Shoemaker did his stand-up and then came out on stage again to be one of Loggins’ backup singers, learning the vocals over dinner! Craig has performed the National Anthem several times, including at Dodger Stadium and the Oakland Coliseum. At Comic Relief 2006 (The 20th Anniversary), Craig was honored to be asked to co-host (with Wayne Brady) the portion from New Orleans, which benefited the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
As an entrepreneur, Craig, along with 2 friends from elementary school, created and developed the idea of advertising messages on the telephone hold system. The company, now called Audiomax, still remains at the top of its field. Dedicated to spreading the word about the healing powers of laughter, Craig formed a non-profit LaughterHeals.org. Although the organization is currently on hiatus, he’s working on a new documentary called Live to Laugh! Along with his partners, Oscar winner Mark Harris (Gods & Monsters, Crash) , and Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith (The Secret). In 1996 and 1999, he did his standup routine in front of 70,000 at the University of Florida’s "Gator Growl." Virtually every famous comedian has performed at this event from Richard Pryor to Robin Williams to Ray Romano, but Shoemaker is one of three acts to be booked to come back a second time along with comedy legends Bill Cosby and Bob Hope. Currently Craig is the CEO and founder of TheLaughterStore.com, which sells gifts that make you grin, giggle and guffaw. From fart machines to funny books to DVDs.
